According to a recent poll, voters in the state of New York show support to Governor David Paterson’s “order to state agencies to recognize same-sex marriages performed outside the state,” according to Quinnipiac University poll results released on June 12. But the poll found that Mayor Michael Bloomberg is still ahead with regards to the race for governor.

With Mayor Michael Bloomberg leading the polls at 30%, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani is close behind with 26%. Rounding out the polls were Democratic Governor David Paterson with 23% and Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, at 15%

Another interesting section of the poll showed that 63 percent approved of the recent action to increase cigarette taxes — effectively making New York’s cigarette tax the highest in the nation.
